Art Above: an artist film in her own words

The problem

Abby needed a film that let audiences and galleries understand her practice beyond the finished pieces.

What we made

An artist portrait film shot on location, with short social cuts for Instagram and exhibition promotion.

The result

A piece of work that introduces her practice, her process, and her point of view to new audiences.

The background

Galleries and collectors buy into a practice, not just a finished piece. Abby's process was the most compelling part of her work and the least visible.

The film needed to introduce her practice, her thinking and her point of view to people encountering her for the first time.

How we approached it

  • Shot on location in the working space rather than in a gallery setting.
  • Abby narrates in her own words; nothing is paraphrased.
  • Detail and texture were captured close, so the physical quality of the work reads on screen.

The results

  • 01

New audiences introduced to the practice, not just the pieces

  • 02

A film used for exhibition promotion and gallery conversations

  • 03

A body of footage reusable for future shows
