Legal marketing is unusually constrained. You cannot promise outcomes, you cannot share most client detail and your regulator expects accuracy. Video still works — you just have to build it around explanation rather than claims.
What law firms can safely film
- Explainers. What actually happens in the first week of a dispute, a sale or an employment claim.
- Partner point of view. A calm view on a change in law or a common misunderstanding.
- Process films. What working with your team looks like, step by step.
- Anonymised stories. The shape of a matter without identifying anyone.
Compliance without dullness
Keep claims factual, avoid guarantees, and have the same person who signs off written marketing sign off the script or question set before filming. Approval is fast when you agree the boundaries first, and slow when you try to fix it in the edit.
Where the videos should live
Practice-area pages, partner profiles, LinkedIn and pitch documents. A 90-second explainer on a service page often does more for enquiries than another page of copy, because it answers the question the visitor was too unsure to ask.
What good looks like
Clear, unhurried, human. Solicitors who sound like themselves rather than a brochure. That tone is what convinces a client you will be straight with them when something goes wrong.
